Oh yes. Yes, that is true. I was 7 years old and it was coming on HBO. HBO had just started up and Jaws had been out earlier that year or the year before. I was young. I begged my parents to let me watch it. I went on and on about it, and they finally gave in. And that is the night that my panic attacks started. I ended up staying awake all night, crying and freaking out and my parents were so mad.



And then the panic attacks didn't stop. And my parents didn't know what they were, because people didn't know shit back then about much mentally/emotionally. So they thought I was a brat and throwing fits, when in actuallity, I severely needed help. I would have one and have to go sleep in the van, because of the fight or flight response we all get, or sleep in mom's cool room on her king sized bed until she went to bed late at night, and told me to go back to my bed. She had one of those velour blankets that are so soft. It is unfortunate that she didn't understand me properly at that time. And she had problems of her own to contend with, emotionally.



I do like Jaws actually. I watch it every time it's on TV. I started it out as a sort of exposure therapy for myself. I still can't watch the part with the guys head coming out of the wrecked boat. I know when it is, and I can't watch it, nor can I listen to the screech sound that is played when it happens.

How are you feeling now Jamie? I met a lady I knew the other day, her husband died on Christmas day last year. When we were talking she burst out into tears that all I could do was hold her in my arms and give her as much comfort as possible. Ah nice. It's a good one. It's like that one I like to say, "Don't worry until you have to.". It's a challenge, for sure.



I try to keep things real as much as possible. Sometimes it's hard in times like this....where it's basically surreal.



Despite the current circumstances with mom, and how it may seem, I am not laying around crying all the time. Instead more somber and quiet. Still, we have been able to laugh and I know mom would want us to do that and live. And we want that too. =) She loved all of us sitting around and laughing, making smart ass jokes. Danny and I just get really upset at the loss of her presence and also how she had to suffer and that is upsetting to think about. But there are wonderful, smiling memories in there too.
